2011 Sierra Overview
The GMC Sierra is an industry leader in fuel economy, capability and performance. The broad Sierra lineup offers the right truck to meet a wide range of customer needs—ranging from the job ready Work Truck to the luxurious Denali. For 2011, all Sierra HD models are new, featuring more power, capability and style—refer to your launch materials for complete information. As for 1500 models, they continue to trump the competition with excellent fuel economy, proven dependability and impressive performance. Sierra configurations for 2011 include:
- Regular, Extended, Crew and Chassis (HD only) Cabs.
- Short, Standard and Long Box lengths. (Short Box not available on HD models.)
- 2WD and 4WD. (AWD on 1500 Denali.)
- Seven trims – Hybrid, WT, SL, SLE, XFE, SLT and Denali.

The 2011 Sierra's top ten features
- 6-speed automatic transmission – Standard on XFE, SLT and Denali 1500 models; available on WT and SLE 1500 models equipped with the 5.3L or 6.2L V8 engine.
- Rearview Camera System – Displays the area behind Sierra when vehicle is in reverse. Image displayed on inside rearview mirror in models without navigation system, and on navigation screen in models with navigation system. Available on Hybrid, Denali and most SLE and SLT models.
- USB ports – Allows the connection and playback of music stored on various portable music devices. A USB port is standard on Hybrid, SLT and Denali; available on SLE and XFE models.
- Bluetooth for Phone – Technology that connects any Bluetooth-equipped personal cell phone to the Sierra’s audio system is standard on Hybrid, SLT and Denali; available on all other models.
- Heated/cooled front seats available on Denali – Include heated and cooled cushions and seatbacks and perforated Nuance leather trim in Ebony or Cocoa/Light Cashmere.
- Turn-by-Turn Navigation – Provides voice-guided directions and simple text messages at the touch of a button. Included with OnStar Directions & Connections Plan. Standard on most models.
- XM NavTraffic – Standard on Sierra models equipped with a screen-based navigation system and includes three trial months of service. - Sierra Hybrid powertrain – GM’s patented 2-Mode Hybrid system delivers the power and capability you expect of a full-size pickup, while providing up to a 33% improvement in city fuel economy. The power derives from a 300-volt battery pack and two 60kW electric motors working in tandem with a 332 hp Vortec 6.0L V8 Late Intake Valve Closing (LIVC) engine with Active Fuel Management™.
- Best average fuel economy of any full-size pickup truck – Sierra offers V8 engines with Active Fuel Management, which allows the vehicle to run on four cylinders under light load conditions, and with E85 FlexFuel capability, which enables the engine to run on up to 85% ethanol. - Full-feature power, heated outside mirrors – With integrated turn signals, power fold, curb tilt and driver side autodimming. Standard on SLT and Denali; available on Hybrid (without curb tilt) and included with All-Terrain Package on SLE (without curb tilt).
- A vailable power, heated camper mirrors – With 50 sq. in. flat and 20 sq. in. convex mirrors, manual fold and extend, and integrated turn signals. Available on all models.
- Best-in-class seat comfort – A choice of front split-bench or bucket seats and rear full or split-bench seats (on Extended and Crew Cabs). Vinyl seats on WT; cloth on SL; Premium Cloth on Hybrid, SLE and XFE; ultra-soft leather-appointed standard on SLT and Denali and available on Hybrid, SLE and XFE.
- Heated/cooled front seats available on Denali – With heated/ cooled cushions and seatbacks, perforated leather trim and 4-way lumbar.

- (L20) Vortec 4.8L VVT FlexFuel V8 engine – 302 hp @ 5600 rpm and 305 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4600 rpm. Features Variable Valve Timing and FlexFuel capability. Standard on 4WD Extended Cab Standard Box WT, Crew Cab Short Box WT, all SL models, and SLE models except Extended Cab Long Box.
- Vortec 5.3L VVT FlexFuel V8 engine with Active Fuel Management – Includes Variable Valve Timing and FlexFuel capability.

- Sierra Hybrid powertrain – GM’s patented 2-Mode Hybrid offers V8 power and up to a 33% improvement in city fuel economy. Allows fully electric operation at low speeds under light loads, full V8 power at high speeds or under heavy loads, or a combination of the two.
– (LZ1) Vortec 6.0L VVT V8 engine with Active Fuel Management: Produces 332 hp @ 5100 rpm and 367 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4100 rpm.
– 300-volt battery pack and two 60kW electric motors: Provide electric power. Battery is automatically charged by the V8 engine.
– Sophisticated control module: Constantly monitors driving conditions and provides transparent and seamless transition between power modes.
– Dual-mode transmission: Combines a 2-mode (low- and high-speed) electronic continuously variable transmission (ECVT) with four fixed gear ratios for a total of six operating functions. Includes automatic Tow/Haul mode.
- (M30) 4-speed automatic transmission – With Tow/Haul mode. Standard on 1500 Sierra WT, SL and SLE. Crew Cab models also require the Vortec 4.8L V8 engine. Not available on Extended Cab Long Box models.
- (MYC) 6-speed automatic transmission – With Tow/Haul mode and tap-up/tap-down shifting. Standard on XFE, 1500 SLT and 1500 Denali models. Included on 1500 WT and 1500 SLE models equipped with the Vortec 5.3L or

Ride & Handling
- Independent front suspension – Coil-over-shock design on 1500 models can be tuned for optimum ride height and damping.
- Multi-leaf spring rear suspension – Balances ride smoothness and hauling capability.
- Four available suspension packages.
– Z83 Solid Smooth Ride: Provides smooth ride andhandling for light duty service. Standard on all 1500 WT configurations and SL Crew Cab.
– Z85 Heavy Duty Handling/Trailering: A more rugged suspension for heavier service. Standard on Hybrid, SL Extended Cab, SLE, XFE and SLT models; available on 1500 WT Crew Cab and included on 1500 SL models equipped with the (NHT) Max Trailering Pack.
– Z71 Off-Road: Includes off-road jounce bumpers andstabilizer bars. Available on SLE or SLT.
– Z60 High Performance: Includes 36mm front stabilizer bar.Standard on 1500 Denali; available on 1500 SLE, XFE and SLTmodels equipped with 20" wheels.
- StabiliTrak – Stability Control System with Proactive Roll Avoidance – Monitors and compares driver steering input vs. vehicle response and makes corrections that help the driver maintain control. Standard on all models except 3500HD dual rear-wheel models.
- Integrated Trailer Brake Controller – Available on all 1500 models (except Hybrid).
- Wheels – A range of 17", 18" and 20" wheels are offered on 1500 models. Hybrid has standard 18" chrome-clad aluminum wheels. 1500 Denali gets standard 20" polished aluminum wheels.
